Dalton J. Heney, 84

Dalton J. Heney, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 15 at Levine Dickson Hospice in Huntersville surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Ethel W. (Collins) Heney.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late James and Ada Mae (Ward) Heney. A longtime resident of Wareham, he moved to North Carolina in 2014. Mr. Heney was a security guard for the Foxboro Company in Foxboro and Bridgewater.

Mr. Heney was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He received a Purple Heart due to wounds received as a result of action with enemy forces, along with the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. Mr. Heney was a member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V.

Survivors include his wife; his daughters, Debbie Bradshaw of Hanson and Ruth Franklin of Huntersville, North Carolina; his sons, David Heney and Matthew Heney both of Wareham, Mark Heney of Huntersville, North Carolina and Paul Heney of Davidson, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, the late Frederick J. Heney.

A funeral service will be held on Thurs., Aug. 20, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway at 9 a.m. Interment will be in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
