Sep 28, 2015

The Wareham High School class of 1965 held its 50th reunion at the new Rosebook Event Center at the Marriott in Wareham on the evening of Sept. 26.

Of the original 106 members of the class, 64 attended, and the 22 who passed on were memorialized with individually-framed photos of each of them.

The Committee for the event included Lynda Ames, Beverly Bartlett, Dale Bates Hale, Sharren Boff Frazier, Ginny Boyd Eldridge, Marilyn Dowd Hazelton, Judy Durgin Morgan, Paula Goyette Billard, Cathy Tomkinson Phinney, Janice Pope Reed, Barbara Ross Smith, and Barbara Ames Garant.

Social hour began at 5:30 p.m. with an array of cheese, crackers and fruit, as the couples arrived from as far away as California and Minnesota, to reunite with old friends. Name tags were distributed to the classmates with their high school yearbook photo inserted to remind them of yesteryear. The DJ Ron Santoro mixed contemporary beats with music from 1965 for dancing.

Throughout the buffet dinner, a rolling slide show played in the background, depicting a slide for each and every classmate, which included "Then and Now" photos from their elementary school years to the present, and a multitude of slides with donated snapshots from the class’ four years at the High School. It also recognized and thanked all the Vietnam veterans who served. A 50/50 raffle garnered more than $300 to help with the alumni association’s scholarship fund.
