Jan 9, 2016

A Wareham man allegedly robbed the Santander Bank on Main Street Friday evening, according to the Wareham Police Department.

Police said witnesses described a man, later discovered to be 35-year-old Kenneth Gillpatrick, did not show a weapon to the teller, but passed a note to the teller, demanding money. Gillpatrick allegedly fled the bank after the teller gave him an undetermined amount of cash. There were no reported injuries, police said.

Officers and a K-9 unit searched for Gillpatrick, and tracked him to an apartment at 436 Main St., which is within a quarter mile of the bank, police said. Gillpatrick was arrested and taken to the police department, where bail was set at $5,000.

Police said Gillpatrick will be arraigned on the charge of Unarmed Robbery at Wareham District Court on Monday, Jan. 11.

The investigation of the alleged robbery is ongoing, and police said they will not comment further at this time.
