Tree prevents snow plow plunge
Feb 5, 2016
A pickup truck narrowly missed an unplanned visit to an Onset beach when it struck a tree, preventing it from crashing further down an embankment.
The accident occurred at 1:15 p.m. during Friday’s storm when the truck, which had a plow attached, skidded off Onset Avenue.
An Onset Fire Department official reported that the truck’s driver escaped injury. Firefighters used the department’s 5-ton military truck to tow the undamaged vehicle from the embankment.
Fire officials said the storm resulted in a few calls for service, but no major accidents were reported.
