Lazy Lobster 5k to begin at Wareham Crossing this year
The Board of Selectmen approved South Shore Race Management's request to use town roads for the 4th annual “Lazy Lobster Race” on June 19.
The Lazy Lobster 5K, which has typically began at the John W. Decas Elementary school, will start and finish at Wareham Crossing this year due to the rising numbers of participants.
All of the proceeds will go My Team Triumph, an athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults, and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events like triathlons or road races. The donation to My Team Triumph will be used to fund wheelchairs, some of which could cost up to $6,000 since the chairs must be custom-made.
Last year, two officers patrolled the race and the same precautions will be taken this year, Selectmen said.
Online registration will be open through June 16. After that, racers could register at the starting line, beginning at 7:30 a.m. on race day.
There will be multiple races on that day, including a Kids Fun Run, a five-mile race, and a 10-mile race
