AnneLisa Jensen, 90

Apr 13, 2016

AnneLisa (Andersen) Jensen passed away on Friday, April 1 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehab Center. She was 90 years old.

She was born on May 20, 1925, in Grinsted, Denmark, to the late Ane and Laudst Andersen and was the youngest of eight children. She survived the Great Depression and the German occupation in Denmark during World War II.

Mrs. Jensen was married in 1944 to the late Anders P. Jensen. They immigrated to Canada in 1957 along with their four children. They resided in Canada until 1964 when they moved to Wareham. They were married for 60 years.

Lisa was an active participant of the community in Wareham. She was a member of the Wareham Monday Club and served as president for one year. While a member, she was dedicated to helping the veterans, making afghans, collecting donations for gift boxes and attending functions at the veterans hospital in Brockton.

Lisa had a calling in life to help others and an unlearned desire to nurture and help animals. She recognized her love for animals very early in life and that was a love that continued. Countless lives of animals were saved due to her compassion.

She always craved social interactions. That combined with her desire to help others led her to obtain a degree as a nurse's aide. She worked for the Roland Thatcher Nursing Home for many years where she nurtured elderly patients. Lisa helped so many people work through fear and anxiety in their geriatric years and was a ray of sunshine to all who had the pleasure to know her.

Lisa spent her last years at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehab Center in Wareham and was given the compassionate care that she so lovingly gave to others throughout her life.

Lisa was an organ donor, believing something good could come from her dying. Her body was donated to Tufts School of Medicine and Dental program, again hoping someone could learn from her body.

AnneLisa is predeceased by her husband, Anders P. Jensen; and her sons, Erik Jensen and Jens Jensen. She is survived by daughters Jytte (Jensen) Swanson and her husband Kenneth of Smyrna, Delaware, and Sandra (Jensen) Harvey and her husband Robert of Sandwich; and daughter-in-law Cheryl (Meier) Jensen of Wareham. Lisa leaves eight grandchildren: Cara Dahill, Erik H. Jensen, Michael Jensen, James Swanson, Annalise (Swanson) Fratta, Jonathan Harvey, Jennifer Harvey, and Kristen Staley; and 12 great-grandchildren, Jacob Jensen, Aleksandra Jensen, Conor Dahill, Anders M. Jensen, Aksel Jensen, Anders A. Fratta, Aleksandra Fratta, Anastasia Fratta, Jameson Swanson, TJ, Quinn, and Addison Staley.

A celebration of life will be held for Mrs. Jensen at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22 at the Mezza Luna, Main Street, Buzzards Bay.
