Wareham welcomes its newest resident
At 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and measuring about 20 inches long, Aubrey Lynn Mayou was Tobey hospital’s first birth of 2011. She made her first appearance on the planet Earth at around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
Aubrey's proud parents, East Wareham’s John and Sheriann Mayou, say that though they are mostly just happy to have a healthy daughter, they were also quite pleased to be the first parents of the New Year at Tobey. Pleased, and a little bit surprised, as Aubrey showed up about a week before her due date.
Early or not, her parents are ecstatic to be welcoming their first child into the family. Both mother and baby are reportedly “doing very well,” and are scheduled to check out of the hospital on Tuesday, John said.
John and Sheriann say the first thing they plan to do is show their baby her new room, which has been set up and ready to go for some time.
Aubrey Lynn Mayou was the first new baby born here in Wareham, but was actually the third baby born in a Southcoast hospital this weekend as 2010 turned into 2011. Denise Alston and John Arruda of Fall River welcomed their son Sean Jean at 12:10 a.m. on January 1 at Charlton Hospital. Later that morning, Gianna MacKenzie was born to Sonia and Eugenio Raposo at 10:05 a.m. at St. Luke’s in New Bedford.
