Dominga “Porky” (Pires) Roderick, 91, of Wareham died April 20 in the Sippican Health Care Center, Marion. She was the widow of the late Robert Roderick and the daughter of the late Caetano and Silvania (Perry) Pires.

She was born in Wareham and lived there for most of her life.

Mrs. Roderick worked as a bartender at the Bunker at the Dudley Brown VFW Post in Onset for many years before retiring.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, baking and cooking – especially Cape Verdean Recipes (Goofongs).

Survivors include two daughters, Selvena “Sally” Rose of Attleboro and Donna Hawkins of New Bedford; a son, Robert Roderick, Jr. of California; five grandchildren, Rick Rose of Attleboro, Kimberly Della Croce of Attleboro, Robert Hawkins of Rhode Island, Ryan and Ebony Roderick; five great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Matilda Baptiste and Marion Rose.

Her funeral will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 23 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
