The Opthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) hosted their own business connection event on Wednesday night, aiming to network with local businesses during an evening of hors d'oeuvres and drinks.

The OCB filled in a vacancy in Rosebrook Place in August in order to provide services to those in Wareham.

“What we learned is that Wareham patients do not leave Wareham, we come to them,” said Sharon Brown, Director of OCB. “We've got an unbelievable group of doctors here.”

The location in Rosebrook Place includes Dr. Daniel O'Connor, Dr. Audrey Chan, Dr. David Reed, and Dr. Daniel Hu. The practice specializes in medical, laser and surgical treatment of the full range of eye conditions, including specialty care for cataracts, conditions of the cornea, glaucoma, and conditions of the retina.

The event was hosted by the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce, an organization that connects business with community and includes the communities of Bourne, Sandwich, and Wareham.

“More importantly, we hold the hands of existing businesses and we're the voice of small business at the local level,” said Marie Oliva, President and CEO of the group. The CCCRCC attends and represents small businesses at town meetings.

A $10,000 raffle fundraiser for the Chamber, where tickets are $100 a piece, will help the nonprofit organization continue to provide its services to the town and community.

“We're calling it a Simply White Party which we're gonna have at the Bay Pointe, and they donated all the food,” said Oliva.

Second place prize is $1,000, and third and fourth place prizes are $500 each.
