High school sports round-up
The Wareham High School varsity girls basketball team remains undefeated after its last two outings. They annihilated Seekonk’s Lady Warriors 68-30 at home on Friday, January 7. Their streak of 20 point plus victories continued on the road when they brought down Dighton-Rehoboth 59-34 on Tuesday, January 11. The team's record is now 9-0. The Lady Vikings will be at home for their next game against Fairhaven on Friday, January 14 at 6:30 p.m.
Wareham’s boys varsity basketball team also ended this week with a winning record. They routed Seekonk’s Warriors 83-63 January 7 and went on to defeat Dartmouth 62-45 on Saturday. The Vikings' winning streak was cut short Sunday afternoon when they fell to Cathedral High School, scoring 70 points to Cathedral’s 81. The boys varsity players then jump-started their winning ways again on January 11, beating Dighton-Rehoboth 52-48. The boys will play Fairhaven on the road on January 14 at 6:30 p.m.
In other high school sports news, Wareham's varsity hockey team lost on the road to the Seekonk/Dighton-Rehoboth team Wednesday, January 5, with a score of 2-3. The Vikings are facing a very full line-up in the upcoming week. On Saturday, January 15, the team will hit the ice against Old Rochester Regional/Fairhaven at the Gallo Ice Arena in Bourne at 8 p.m. The team will face New Bedford High on Monday at Tabor Academy at 1:45 p.m., Middleborough on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Bridgewater Ice Arena, and Apponequet/Bishop Connolly on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Driscoll Rink in Fall River.
