Wareham Police have arrested five people in connection with a shooting that occurred around 10 p.m. on Friday night in front of an apartment complex on Longwood Avenue in Onset.

Dominic Rezendes, 20,  who is currently homeless but formerly lived in Wareham, was arrested at around 3 p.m. Saturday after Wareham Police and State Police detectives determined he was the shooter.

Police responded to a 911 call Friday night reporting gunshots in front of the 56 Longwood Avenue apartments. When they arrived, witnesses told them that two men were fighting outside and one of them pulled out a handgun. The victim was shot twice, once in the chest and once in the foot.

The victim was rushed to Tobey Hospital and then airlifted to a Hospital in Boston where he underwent surgery for his injuries, according to police. He is currently being treated in intensive care.

Officers were conducting surveillance of the apartment complex throughout the day Saturday when Rezendes was spotted exiting the building and was found hiding in the trunk of a car containing three female passengers and a male driver, according to police.

Police arrested Rezendes and the four individuals in the car. Police are continuing their search for the weapon.

Rezendes is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and battery, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

The individuals in the car, Jerae Black, 21, of 17 Camardo Drive, Corissa Jones, 19, of 36 Swifts Beach Road, and Lynden Mendes, 17, of 15 Oakdale Heights Lane, were charged with being accessories to the crime after the fact, according to police.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Ryan LaChance, 20, of 24 Terry Lane East, is charged with being an accessory after the fact and for carrying chemical mace without a Firearms Identification Card, police said.

All parties are currently being held at the Wareham Police station, awaiting word on bail. All will be arraigned on Monday in Wareham District Court.

Rezendes was arrested in September on charges of carrying a firearm and possessing ammunition without a Firearms Identification Card. Police said at the time that they believed his .45 caliber handgun was used in the September 25 drive-by shooting on Cromesett Road. Rezendes was not charged in connection with that crime, however. No one was hurt during that incident.

LaChance was in court earlier this month on charges of obstruction of justice in relation to the January 8 stabbing at the White Pines Motel. LaChance allegedly drove Leonard Bolia and Ryan Aponte, both of Wareham, to the motel, where the two allegedly attempted to rob resident Richard Walling, who stabbed them. Bolia and Aponte later died. LaChance is accused of providing false statements about the incident to police. He pleaded not guilty to that charge in Wareham District Court on January 10.
