'Meet the Coaches' on Aug. 15
Parents of student athletes are encouraged to attend a “Meet the Coaches Night,” scheduled for Aug. 15, before their kids take the field for fall sports.
“All the coaches will be there to discuss their coaching philosophy,” said Athletic Director Ed Rodrigues. “It’s a good night, and hopefully everyone will show up.”
Coaches from the school’s football, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf and cheerleading teams will all be on hand that night. The event starts at 6 p.m. inside the high school’s gymnasium.
After an introduction, Rodrigues said coaches will hold sessions with parents in different classrooms throughout the school to discuss the upcoming season. Tryouts for football are scheduled for Aug. 19. All other sports will hold tryouts on Aug. 25.
He said parents of everyone, from seniors to incoming eighth graders, are encouraged to attend.
“It doesn’t matter,” he said. “We like to see as many people there as possible to get all the information they need.”
Starting in 2014, the athletic department changed how it handles registrations. To save time, all registrations are done online using the district’s website, www.warehamps.org. Click on the “athletics” link and fill out the online registration form.
Prior to registering, every student athlete must have a current physical (within the past 13 months) on file to participate in fall sports.
User fees for the following sports are as follows: cheerleading and golf, $100; soccer, volleyball, and field hockey, $125; football, $150. The total cost for a family is $500.
Fees must be paid before the first scheduled game. Families experiencing financial hardship may apply for a waiver with the athletic director. All requests will be reviewed on an individual basis.
