John “Jon Jon” V. Lopes, Jr., 48, of Yarmouth passed away on July 19 after a long courageous battle with neurofibromatosis.

He was the beloved husband of Lynette Evelyn, to whom he was married for 19 years, and father to John V. Lopes III. Born in Wareham, he was the son of John V. and Georgianna Lopes.

Jon Jon attended and graduated from Wareham High School.

Jon Jon’s greatest joys were being a husband and father, taking is son to work with him and spending time helping other kids. He enjoyed going to the car racing track in New Hampshire, and rebuilding cars and lots of family vacations. He was happy whether he was watching a movie or walking his beloved bulldog, or even cartoons with his sweet little Myliah. As long as he was with his family he was happy.

Jon Jon is survived by his loving wife Lynette of Yarmouth, son John V. Lopes III; parents John V. and Georgianna Lopes of Wareham; sister Georgette Entzminger (Mikal, brother-in-law); half brother John Britto of New Bedford; mother-in-law Judith Eldredge; brothers-in-law Dale Eldredge and Mike MacLeod (Kim, sister-in-law); two nieces, six nephews, and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

This is such a great loss. Jon Jon will be deeply missed.
