Selectmen approved a license to sell used automobiles at a property located at 3251 Cranberry Highway on Tuesday night.

The current tenant, Bayside Auto Sales, has been selling cars at that location since 1986.

Anibal Barroso and his wife Alicia were approved for the license and will do business as AB Auto Sales.

The couple told Selectmen both had experience purchasing and selling used cars. Alicia said Wareham seemed like an ideal location to open up shop.

“We chose Wareham because we have a lot of customers from Wareham, Fall River, New Bedford – all the way to Maine,” she said. “We thought it would be a central location for future customers and present ones.”

Board members unanimously approved the license, pending a review of the site from the town’s conservation agent.

“It’s always been a viable spot,” said Selectman Patrick Tropeano. “I think you’ll do just fine.”
