John Raymond, 82
John C. Raymond, 82, of Wareham died Sept. 7 in Tobey Hospital. He was the husband of Marion A. (Spencer) Raymond.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Walter and Anna (Johnson) Raymond. A graduate of New Bedford High School, he entered the U.S. Air Force after graduation and served during the Korean War. After his military service, Mr. Raymond attended and graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1961.
Mr. Raymond worked as a pharmacist at Massachusetts General Hospital for 19 years then as pharmacist for the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Middleboro and Wareham Pharmacy before retiring.
He was a member of the Benjamin D. Cushing V.F.W. Post #2425 in Marion where he also served as a chaplain. A longtime and active parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #15280 and the 3rd Order of Secular Franciscans.
He enjoyed bowling, history, crossword puzzles and his cats.
Survivors include his wife, Marion A. (Spencer) Raymond; a son, John A. Raymond of Wareham; two daughters, Johanna M. Raymond of Fall River and Jacqueline M. Raymond of Wareham; a granddaughter, Joy Marie Stetson. He was the brother of the late Walter Raymond and Eleanor Anderson.
His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Sept. 12 from Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
