Lindsey’s Family Restaurant in East Wareham will be awarding a $5,000 scholarship for a fourth consecutive year to a student planning on pursuing a career in Special Education.

Last year, the scholarship was awarded to 2010 Old Rochester Regional High graduate Kelsey Frink who is currently attending Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas majoring in Elementary Special Education.

The 2011 Lindsey’s Family Restaurant and Shon Shadrick Memorial Scholarship is in honor of owner Cheri Lindsey’s nephew. Shon was born with Down Syndrome and graduated from Brockton High School in 1992. He participated annually in the Special Olympics where he won several medals. He previously worked at Bridgewater State College and was a prep cook at Lindsey’s. He died in 2005 after a lengthy illness.
