Lionel J. 'Leo' Lacasse, 82

Lionel J. “Leo” Lacasse, 82, of Onset, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 15 at home with his family by his side. He was born in New Britain, Connecticut on April 2, 1934, them son of the late Henry J. and Albertine (Lizotte) Lacasse.

Leo served in the U.S. Air Force.

Leo was a well know businessman in the Onset area having owned and operated Lacasse Service and Lacasse Motors for over 40 years.

Leo was very active in Wareham politics over the years, he was a member of the Democratic Town Committee, served as a Wareham Selectman, served on the Prudential Committee of the Onset Fire District, and was a member of the original Onset Bay Chamber of Commerce.

He will be remembered for his love of family, his great sense of humor, his practical jokes and his superb ability to repair automobiles.

Leo enjoyed traveling in his motor home, flying his airplanes, working on antique cars and playing with his many computers.

Leo is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Hammond) Lacasse; his brother, Norman Lacasse and his wife Sheila of Bristol, Connecticut; his daughters, Renee McCarthy of Fall River and Diane Healey and her husband Jack of Middleboro; two stepsons, William Sheehy of W. Wareham and John Sheehy and his wife Lindsay of Hudson; his grandchildren, Lionel Healey, Michelle Goodrich, Tim McCarthy, Lily Sheehy, Bobby Sheehy and Charlotte Sheehy; his great granddaughter, Makenzie Healey. He leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins and a multitude of friends. He was predeceased by his four sisters, Pauline Whitney, Yvette Cherpak, Evelyn Godbout and Lucille Roy.

Arrangements are private. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Southcoast VNA Community Affairs, 200 Mill St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
