Jean Evenson Ellis, 69, clerk, Plymouth District Court Probation Office
Jean Evenson Ellis, 69, passed away on December 22, 2010 at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Jean was born and raised in Wareham. She was a Yeoman 3rd class in the Navy, working on personnel records, and following her discharge went on to work at several types of clerical positions, most recently in the Plymouth District Court Probation Office for 16 years.
Her favorite pastimes were gardening, photography, genealogy and building and repairing computers. She enjoyed challenges, from growing the tallest sunflowers to diagnosing and repairing a difficult computer issue. Jean enjoyed photography and was always taking pictures of scenery, family, and events.
She is survived by a brother, William Evenson; a sister Olive Evenson Harlow; many nephews and nieces; her daughters, Roxanne Ellis-Raymond of Wareham and Andrea Carlson of Bourne; her grandchildren Amanda McCarthy, Raymond McCarthy III, Ian Carlson and Crystal Carlson, and great-grandchildren Ayanna Smith and Cody Smith.
Friends and relatives are invited to remember Jean on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 02701.
