MassGOP files complaint against candidate Sarah Hewins

Nov 3, 2016

Last week, the MassGOP filed a complaint with the Office of Campaign and Political Finance regarding the campaign of state representative candidate Sarah Hewins (D-Carver). According to the complaint, Hewins was recorded holding a campaign meeting at a public building during which her campaign solicited donations, a clear violation of state law. The violation allegedly took place at the Wareham Free Library where Hewins was holding a meet and greet with voters.

"It's critical that candidates for public office respect the sanctity of public spaces, and Sarah Hewins has clearly failed that test," said MassGOP Executive Director Brian Wynne. "If Hewins is incapable of following this basic law while she is a candidate, how can voters expect her to adhere to proper ethic standards if she is elected?"
