Francis H. “Tuey” McWilliams, Jr. of Wareham, died on Nov. 6  at 2 a.m. in Wareham.

He was the husband of Claire (Coville) McWilliams. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on Oct. 8, after many happy years together.

He was born in Wareham on Oct. 21, 1927, the son of the late Francis H. McWilliams, Sr. and Emily (Morse) McWilliams and had lived in Onset and Wareham all of his life.

He graduated in 1945 from Wareham High School and entered the Army Air Force and served in the Pacific Area; Philippines, Guam, Iwo Jima and Japan.

He was an employee of Commonwealth Electric Co. retiring in 1989 after 43 years, starting as a Meter Reader, and finished his career as a District Supervisor for Southeastern MA.

He enjoyed gardening, bingo, bowling, golf, walking, Wareham Gatemen & Cape Cod Baseball League, the Boston Red Sox (a great Red Sox fan), and the New England Patriots. He played baseball, football and basketball at Wareham High School.

Tuey served on many town committees; Wareham Planning Board (5 years), Sewer Works Building Committee and Multi Service Center Committee. He was a former member of the Wareham Kiwanis, Wareham Lions Club and an active 50-year member of the Wareham Redmen Cromesett Tribe #156 where he was a Past Sachem, AARP, Sippican Seniors, Friends of Wareham’s Elderly and a member of the Wareham Little League Committee and Manager of the Meadowbrook Team for several years.

Tuey and Claire spent 31 winters in Sarasota, FL. They had a wonderful life together. Their love will be forever.

He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Claire; a sister, Colleen McAdams; a brother, Gardner “Gabby” McWilliams all of Wareham; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Milton Morse, Lorraine McWilliams, Dana McWilliams, Patrick McWilliams and Ellen Westgate.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St. Burial will follow in Agawam Cemetery.
