Wareham Police pick-up two new ATVs
The Wareham Police Department purchased two new All Terrain Vehicles with a $22,000 federal grant the department received. The officers debuted the ATVs outside the Multi-Service Center before Tuesday night's selectmen meeting. Interim Police Chief Richard Stanley told the board the new ATVs will be used during search and rescue missions in inaccessible wooded areas and bogs and as a part of beach patrol for Wareham's 54 miles of coastline.

The Board of Selectmen voted that The Wareham Police Department will participate in a statewide municipal/ mutual aid program. The program allows neighboring towns to seek additional resources from each other's emergency personnel to quicken response time and strengthen recovery efforts. The town's police and EMS will now take part in the program. The Wareham and Onset Fire Departments are not included in this selectmen vote since they are not governed by the board. The fire departments will have the choice to opt into the program if they vote to participate.
