9 people take out nomination papers for April election
Nine people have taken out nomination papers for the April 4 Town Election, according to the Town Clerk’s office.
Board of Selectmen incumbents Judith Whiteside of Great Neck Road and Peter Teitelbaum of Oak Street have taken out nomination papers, which became available in the Town Clerk’s office on Jan. 12. Both terms are for three years.
So far, two women, Joyce Bacchiocchi and Laurie Spear, of Charge Pond Road and Repose Lane, respectively, have taken out nomination papers for a pair of open, three-year seats on the School Committee. Current School Committee members Mel Lazarus and Dr. Cliff Sylvia both announced they would not seek reelection.
Sewer Commission incumbents Donna Bronk of Glenda Avenue and Malcolm White of Main Street also took out papers, as have Board of Assessors incumbents Priscilla Porter and James McCahill of Longboat Drive and Cleveland Way, respectively. Those seats are all for three-year terms.
Bronk, who is also a member of the Wareham Housing Authority, took out papers to keep her seat on that board for another five-year term.
Incumbent Constable Steven Coughlin of Fishermans Cove Road has take out papers for his position, as well.
The deadline to take out papers for the upcoming election is Monday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. Completed papers must be submitted to the Board of Registrars no later than Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 5 p.m.
Pick up nomination papers at the Town Clerk’s office, located at 54 Marion Road, Monday through Friday between 8:15 a.m. and 5 p.m.
