'Women Who Rock' get loud for domestic violence shelter
Seven female-fronted bands made some noise at Buzzards Play Productions on Saturday to raise funds for victims of domestic violence.
Janie MacAuslan, a Cape-Cod based drummer for her band Just Like That, produced the new show, dubbed “Women Who Rock Cape Cod,” which lasted all afternoon and into the evening.
Funds raised benefited the Cape Cod Shelter and Domestic Violence Services, the only 24-hour, seven day a week domestic violence shelter. It serves all of Cape Cod, the South Shore and the Islands.
Near the show’s end, MacAuslan said she hadn’t yet tallied how much money was raised, but estimated that 200 people turned out for the event.
In addition to Just Like That, bands Plymouth Fury, The Jody Moore Band, Shattered, Pushing Play, Wut It Iz and Thee Midnight Society performed.
For the final concert of the evening, front women from all the bands gathered on stage for a group performance.
