Stephen H. Maxim passed away May 15 at Tobey Hospital after a long illness, with his son Stephen Jr. and daughter Stephanie at his side. He was the son of the late Bartlett and Frances (Moran) Maxim. He was also pre-deceased by the love of his life Laura (Shurtleff) Chandler.

Born and raised in Onset, Stephen was a former member of the Onset Fire Department. He worked for the Wareham School Department and was a painter for more than 20 years.

Stephen enjoyed his family, digging for quahogs and clams and watching the Patriots.

Besides his children, Stephen is survived by his granddaughters Laurali, Abigail, Kylie and Makayla; his sisters Cheryl Musiol, Christine Maxim and Susan Stoba; his brothers James Moran, Thomas Maxim, Richard Maxim, Michael Maxim, Elroy Maim and Rodney Maxim; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his brother Robert Maxim.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date.
