Wareham Police say a Westfield woman's alleged shoplifting attempt on Wednesday at the Family Dollar Store in Wareham Plaza marked the tenth time she was charged with the crime.

Jayne Decoste, 55, of Westfield was arrested after allegedly stuffing $70 worth of merchandise into a backpack at approximately 8:30 p.m. Within a short period of time, officers found her in the plaza, and the stolen items were recovered from her backpack.

Police said Decoste also had nine outstanding warrants for shoplifting charges in courts across the state.

Warrants had been issued by Massachusetts district courts in Holyoke, Brookline, Springfield, Westfield, Quincy, and Hingham.

Decoste is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge of shoplifting, 10th subsequent offense, this morning at Wareham District Court.
