Selectman earns Commissioner of the Year award from SRPEDD
Selectman Alan Slavin has received the honor of Commissioner of the Year from the Southeastern Regional Planning & Economic Development District for his active role in Wareham.
The district works to improve transportation infrastructure and stimulate economic activity in the region by assisting cities and towns. There are around 28 commissioners throughout southeastern Massachusetts, with 66 members total, Slavin said. Each year, these members vote on who they feel is the best performing commissioner and should be recognized with this award.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be singled out that you’re doing a really good job,” Slavin said. He credited the Wareham Board of Selectmen for helping him earn the award.
Slavin’s award, given at the end of May, noted that he serves as a member of the Finance Committee, is active on the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District, Metropolitan Planning Organization, Joint Transportation Planning Group and Regional Educational Service Centers. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Municipal Board of Directors for 2017 and serves as a Board of Selectmen liaison to other town boards and committees.
