Wareham, Marion officials save boat from sinking

Jul 2, 2017

Officials from the Wareham Department of Natural Resources and Marion Harbormaster Department salvaged a boat that was in danger of sinking while moored in Onset harbor during Saturday night's fireworks display.

According to Department of Natural Resource officials, the boat, a 32' flybridge cabin cruiser, was taking on water and on the verge of sinking due to a mechanical issue. Officials, along with responders from TowBoat US Cape Cod/Plymouth, managed to get pumps on board and dewater the vessel with "only inches of freeboard to spare."

The boat was then towed to a marina and hauled out. No injuries were reported.
