SWANSEA, Mass. — Southcoast Health announced today that Brian Edkin, MD, has joined Southcoast Physicians Group as the Medical Director of the Total Joint Program.

Dr. Edkin joins Southcoast Health from Tennessee Orthopedic Clinics in Knoxville, Tenn., with over 20 years of experience in non-operative and surgical treatment of adult hip and knee disorders.

He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Miami (Fla.) and obtained his medical degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Edkin completed his internship in the surgical specialties, followed by his residency in Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

Dr. Edkin is fellowship trained in joint replacement of the hip and knee, including complex primary and revision joint replacement surgery, and has a special interest in partial knee replacement.

He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
