Supporters of Trey Miranda rode their motorcycles Sunday in Wareham to raise money for a scholarship fund founded in memory of the Onset teen who passed away from brain cancer last year.

The first Trey’s Motorcycle Run pulled out of the Dudley L. Brown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at 11:30 a.m. Approximately 40 bikes were part of the ride. The route took the riders on Route 105, Route 18 and through the Myles Standish Forest before ending at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Teena Miranda, Trey’s mother, said she was grateful for everyone who participated.

“One of the things Trey said before he passed was that he didn’t want to be forgotten,” said Miranda. “It’s why I started the Trey Miranda Foundation.”

The foundation donates school supplies and backpacks to students in need to help them continue their education. This year, the foundation awarded seven, $250 scholarships to Wareham High School seniors. Funds from the motorcycle run benefited the foundation.

Randy Delgado, a friend of Miranda and one of the run’s organizers, said Sunday’s event was all about giving back.

“We want to be here for the community,” said Delgado.

The event also featured food, raffles, kids activities and a DJ at the end of the ride, which organizers plan to make an annual event.
