A pedestrian seriously injured on Wednesday August 9, after being hit by a car in Rochester is now home recovering.

Kalcey Cecca, 20 of Wareham, was walking with her dog and another pedestrian to get ice cream at Robin's Nest when she was struck by a car near 423 High Street in Rochester shortly after 5 p.m.

Setsuko Mendes, 75 of Rochester, was the driver of the car.

Cecca suffered a head injury and road rash as a result of the crash, and was conscious when Rochester police and EMS arrived on the scene. A med-flight was requested at 5:25 p.m., and diverted to a Wareham landing zone. Cecca was transported to Tobey Hospital, and then med-flighted to a Boston-area hospital.

Mendes remained on scene and cooperated with police. She was issued a citation for negligent driving and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

The Plymouth County Bureau of Investigation was on scene at 6 p.m., assisting Rochester police at the scene of the accident.

Rochester Police Chief Paul Magee, Sgt. Robert Small and Officer Sean Crook visited Cecca at her home on Friday afternoon, and brought her the ice cream she never got on Wednesday.

"[Magee, Small and Crook] delivered three gallons of her favorite flavor as a surprise," the police department posted on Facebook. "Needless to say, she was thrilled."
