Wareham Police charged three Wareham residents this weekend for operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol in unrelated incidents.

James Hawkins, 57, was arrested Saturday afternoon after police said he stumbled to his car and then drove erratically on Cranberry Highway. Hawkins was pulled over on Main Street by Officer Calib Larue and failed a sobriety test. Police said this was Hawkins’ fifth operating under the influence charge.

On Saturday night, 19-year-old Tyler Gallus was charged with operating under the influence and driving an uninsured vehicle after officers responded to a crash at 1040 Main St. Police said Gallus struck three unoccupied cars while driving a van. Police said all three cars were damaged. Gallus was taken to Tobey Hospital with minor injuries and will receive a court summons regarding the criminal charges.

At approximately 6 p.m. on Aug. 13, Officer Nate Aronson responded to 18 Martin St. in Onset after a car struck a tree and spun to a stop against a house. The car's driver then backed up and struck the house again, police said.

Wareham Police and Onset Fire Rescue responded to the incident. The building inspector and electrical inspector were called upon and there was an "active water leak" and "heavy structural damage" caused to the home, according to emergency broadcasts.

Delores Proctor, 61, was charged with operating under the influence of drugs after failing several field sobriety tests and admitting to using prescription medication. Proctor was also cited for operating after license suspension and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

There were no reported injuries at the scene, however, Proctor was transported to Tobey Hospital, according to police. She will receive a court summons to appear at Wareham District Court regarding the criminal charges.
