Southcoast Health increases convenience for patients to access lab and imaging results through MyChart app
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — Southcoast Health today announced that all lab and imaging results are now available to patients within 14 days through the MyChart app.
While currently many test results are automatically released and accessible to Southcoast Health patients through MyChart, there are some lab or imaging results requiring release by a provider. For these specific results, patients were previously required to call their physician or send a message to request their test results. It is all now available automatically to patients.
“Providing the results of diagnostic tests and exams directly to our patients via MyChart furthers our commitment to our patients and encourages them to be partners in their care. Sharing complete results in a timely manner is not only a key patient safety measure ensuring that needed treatment and follow up care is received by our patients, but it also serves as an additional opportunity to provide exceptional service to our patients,” explained Dr. Richard Miller, Physician-in-Chief of Surgery.
He added, “as we continue to utilize and enhance the many patient features in MyChart, patients will become more engaged in their care and actively work in achieving wellness.”
The MyChart app addresses the growing need for immediate access to healthcare information. Southcoast Health patients can directly access their MyChart patient portal through a smartphone or online to check lab results, refill prescriptions, communicate with their physician and much more.
