Ligaya O. (Olaes) Neves, 88, of Kingston, formerly of Plympton, died April 25, 2011 at the Wingate at Silver Lake, Kingston. She was the widow of the late Manuel Neves and the daughter of the late Francesco and Marcella Olaes.
She was born in the Philippines and lived in Wareham, Lynn, and Plympton before moving to Kingston.
Mrs. Neves was a quality control inspector for Sylvania Company in Lynn. She also assisted her husband in publishing the Cape Verdean Newspaper for over 25 years.
She worked hard as a seamstress for several years while living in Lynn to help support her family of four children.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and an excellent parent. She enjoyed supporting the D.A.V. and American Cancer Society.
Survivors include 2 sons, Manuel Neves, Jr. of Plympton and Dwight Neves of Norwell; 2 daughters, Liwanag “Lili” Mayer of Windham, NH and Anna Curtin of Bonita Springs, FL; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 29 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.
Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
