Oneida Doherty, 73

Oneida L. Doherty (Jenkins) left us peacefully on Oct. 8. She was 73 years old. She was surrounded by a loving family all of her life and she passed peacefully, holding hands with her husband Dan. They were married for 54 years, having met when they were 13 and 14 years old. Neida was born and raised in Brockton. She lived with her husband, Daniel G. Doherty, and three children for many years in West Wareham. She resided these last few years in Bridgewater, with her husband Dan, her son John, his husband Joe, and two of her grandchildren, Daniel and Kyle.

Neida enjoyed her family very much and loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker to her husband Dan, her three children, and her nine grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and hosting pool parties at their home in West Wareham. She loved Christmastime more than any other time of the year, as evidenced by her well decorated home each year. She and her husband owned and operated Doherty’s Towing and Gas Station in West Wareham for many years. Neida also worked for 10 years with the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds.

Neida is survived by her husband, Daniel G. Doherty, her son Daniel G. Doherty Jr. of Fall River and his wife Beth Doherty, of Plymouth, her son John M. Doherty and his husband Joseph C. Sharameta of Bridgewater, her daughter Pamela L. Doherty of West Wareham. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Megan L. Doherty, Katelyn E. Doherty, Daniel J. Doherty, Kyle C. Sharameta, Jessica E. MacDonald, Jillian T. MacDonald, Logan D. MacDonald, Emmerson G. MacDonald, and numerous cousins and friends. She is predecreased by granddaughter Hannah N. MacDonald (her angel).

A funeral service will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 441 South Main St., (Route 28) West Bridgewater on Oct. 13t at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
