Albert Gregory, 70

Albert W. “Butch” Gregory, 70, of Wareham, died Oct. 10 at his home unexpectedly. He was the husband of Maureen A. (Vass) Gregory.

Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Albert J. & Frances M. (Coffey) Gregory. A longtime resident of Wareham, Mr. Gregory had been a police officer for the Wareham Police Department for 20 years. He also owned and operated A.J. DiGregorio Trucking for many years.

Mr. Gregory was a former coach for the Wareham Tigers and was a member of the Upper Cape Tech basketball team booster club.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen; his daughters, Lisa Messina and her husband Michael of Wareham, Laurie Trask and her husband Gregory of East Wareham, Danielle Ikenberry and her husband Brad of Taunton; his sons, Nicholas Gregory of Wareham and Arthur “Bo” Fernandes of Wareham; his grandchildren, Cole, Erica, Katelyn, Gianna, Gracyn and Lucas. He was predeceased by his brother, the late John Gregory.

His funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham on Oct. 14 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
