Paul M. Oates, age 64, of Wareham, passed away on Oct. 14. He was born on May 27, 1953 in Greenfield, the son of the late Ernest J. Oates and Janice E. Moody.

He graduated from Greenfield High School and went on to earn an undergraduate degree in hospitality and hotel management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Paul owned his own bookkeeping business while raising his young family, eventually retiring as a computer technician at Brodeur Machine Company, Acushnet, in 2015.

Paul thoroughly enjoyed cooking, spending time with his family, traveling, fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Paul is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen (Steemson) Oates; his two children, Ryan Oates (Rachel Kaplan) and Megan (Oates) Arruda (John Arruda); grandson Henry Oates; and brother Alan Oates (Nancy Caffee) of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
