Carolyn Johnson, 76

Carolyn Ann (Dastous) Johnson, known by many as Memé, of Middleboro and formerly of Wareham, passed away peacefully Oct. 26 at New England Sinai Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 76.

Carolyn was the daughter of the late Dolema (Somers) Dastous and Roland Dastous. She grew up in Wareham and graduated from Wareham High School in 1959. After having her children, she moved to Middleboro where she spent most of her life. She was a secretary at Accurate Accounting and Tax Services in Middleboro for several years. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy, playing Scrabble and rummy with her grandchildren, doing crossword puzzles and, most of all, spending time with her family and friends.

Carolyn leaves her daughters, Dena Brown of Middleboro, Amy Madonna and her husband Arthur of Lakeville, and Karen Tellier and her husband Michael of Buzzards Bay; her son, Kevin Johnson and his wife Sharon of Raynham; her sisters, Dolores Perry of Falmouth, Roberta Besse of Onset, Patricia O’Connor of Sagamore Beach, and Joyce Tellier of Buzzards Bay; her brothers, Roland Dastous of Wareham and Donald Dastous of Buzzards Bay; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many close friends and relatives.

Visiting hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28) in Wareham. A private service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolyn’s name to the American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, PO Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
