Joan VanderStaay, 80

Joan E. VanderStaay, 80, of Wareham died Nov. 12 at her home. She was the widow of the late Charles L. VanderStaay.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Agnes (Duggan) and Joseph Alfred Beaulieu. A lifelong resident of Wareham, she was a homemaker and a retired cafeteria worker at Wareham High School.

Mrs. VanderStaay was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham. She was involved in St. Patrick’s Table ministry, that serves a community fellowship meal every week. Mrs. VanderStaay a member of the American Legion Post #220 Ladies Auxiliary, and also enjoyed playing bingo.

She is survived by her children, Annette M. VanderStaay, Maureen E. Lindquist, Joseph M. VanderStaay and Catherine L. Giannelli all of Wareham; 12 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. She was predeceased by her brother and sister, the late John A. “Arthur” Beaulieu and June V. Lynch.

Her funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham on Friday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
