Dec 1, 2017

The Bourne-Wareham Art Association's holiday art sale began Friday night, promising a weekend for art lovers and holiday shoppers to enjoy.

The art sale will run from Dec. 1 to 3 at the Wareham Historical Society Meeting House. Members of the association are selling artwork in many forms, including wood carvings, oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel paintings, photography and crafts. There are 16 local artists represented at the show.

Prices range from $2 for hand painted postcards to several hundred dollars for large wall hangings.

"There's a wonderful variety of media and size, and art makes wonderful holiday gifts," said Patty White, president of the association.

The Bourne-Wareham Art Association is a 53-year-old group with 36 members. A portion of funds raised at the art show this weekend go to the association's Scholastic Art Award Fund, which gives two high school seniors $750 to pursue an advanced degree.

On Dec. 2, there will be a wood burning demonstration throughout the day by Mark Madden of Obsessed With Owls Wood Carving Studio and the art show is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Dec. 3, there will be a painting demonstration by a local artist and the show will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
