Gilda M. (DeSimone) Cody, 98, of Wareham, died Dec. 4 at home. She was the widow of the late William J. Cody and the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Centore) DeSimone.

She was born and raised in Medford and Somerville before moving to Wareham 20 years ago.

Mrs. Cody worked for Dr. Yale Berry in Kenmore Square for many years.

She was talented and crafty with her hands and enjoyed ceramics, sewing, and crocheting. She was an avid knitter and donated many hats for newborn babies throughout the years.

Survivors include two sons, William J. Cody, Jr. and his wife Donna of Wareham and Charles L. Cody of Gardner; a sister, Ann McDonald of Auburn, ME; four grandchildren, Michelle McGee, Renee Cody, Heather Herold, Jason Herold; seven great-grandchildren, Cody McGee, Makayla Cody, Michael McGee, Grace McGee, Autumn Cody, Samantha Cody and Brooke Herold. She was predeceased by a grandson, Charles L. Cody, Jr.

Visiting hours are from 10 to 11 a.m. on Dec. 7, followed by a service at 11 a.m. at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Plymouth.
