A town wide parking ban took effect Thursday at 6 a.m. as a massive winter storm that’s expected to bring power outages arrives.

Motorists are being asked to stay off the roads as much as possible to allow for salting, sanding and snow removal operations.

Town Administrator Derek Sullivan said officials are keeping an eye on Friday’s forecast when extremely low temperatures are predicted, meaning weather woes may continue once the storm passes.

“Our concern is that power outages will still need to be handled leading into the extreme cold predicted for Friday,” said Sullivan. “That will part of the issue getting things back online.”
