NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — Southcoast Health announced today that Dr. Wendy Stern has been selected to serve as President-elect of the Board of Directors for the New England Otolaryngological Society (NEOS).

“Being an otolaryngologist is part of my essence,” said Dr. Stern, who has been an active member of NEOS for more than 20 years. “My opportunity to provide patient care and touch lives is a privilege. I recognize that it is also important to contribute outside of the realm of clinical care. I have been dedicated to volunteerism within my specialty in a wide range of ways including working on quality of care, evidence based medicine and academic efforts locally and nationally”

Dr. Stern has served as a councilor on the Board of Trustees for two years. This new appointment will be for three years; with Dr. Stern moving from President-elect in 2018 to President in 2019, and finally to Immediate Past President in 2020.

“I am excited to become the President of this illustrative organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the science and practice of otolaryngology,” added Dr. Stern. “It is pleasure to serve fellow otolaryngologists and otolaryngology residents that practice and train in New England.”

The NEOS prides itself on the advancement of the science and practice of otolaryngology for physicians, physicians-in-training, and allied health professionals. Through educational activities held throughout the year, the NEOS hopes to provide a forum to update the community on the latest discoveries in order to expand its collective medical knowledge.

Dr. Stern has offices in Fall River and Dartmouth. For an appointment, call 508-995-0700.
