A Wareham woman died on Monday as a result of stab wounds from an incident in New Bedford, which is being investigated as a homicide.

New Bedford Police and EMS responded to 387 Ashley Blvd. in New Bedford at around 1:19 a.m. on Monday after receiving calls regarding a woman screaming and bleeding outside that house.

The woman, 34-year-old Chantel Bruno of Wareham, was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital and pronounced dead at around 2:30 a.m.

Massachusetts State Police troopers and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating. The investigation is being coordinated by Assistant District Attorney Jason Mohan.
