Daniel M. West, 99, passed away on April 18 in Wareham HealthCare. He was the loving husband for over 60 years of the late Mary Adella (Whitcomb) West.

Dan was born in Middleboro in 1919, the son of the late Leroy S. and Bessie (McLeod) West. He lived in Leominster for many years and summered at his home in Wareham until moving there full time in 1985. He was very proud to have attended the West Side School in Middleboro and graduate from the Middleboro High School with the class of 1937. He also graduated from the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in Boston in 1939.

He was a World War II Army veteran serving from April 1942 to October 1945 in the European Theater of Operations. From June 1944 to October 1945, he served with ADSEC, a spearhead of supply for the first, third, ninth, and fifteenth armies and the ninth Air Force receiving battle stars and campaign credit for Normandy, The Ardennes Campaign, Northern France, Central Europe and the Rhineland.

After his military service, he worked as office manager for the ABC Trucking Company in Fitchburg. Later, he worked as vice president with the Asher Company in Fitchburg for 28 years in charge of their order, customer services and credit departments.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wareham and the American Legion Post 220 in Wareham.

Dan is survived by his sons, Daniel L. West and his wife Alice of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Robert K. West of Oxford; a brother-in-law, Eddy Whitcomb and his wife Barbara of Brookline, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren, David, Lisa, Diane, Michael, Alison, Sterling and Jaclyn; many great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his son, Harlan West of Mason, New Hampshire; his brother, Elmore “Skip” West of Onset; and his first wife, Rozella Saunders West of Middleboro.

Funeral and burial services will be private.
