Mary Louise (Buckley) Payton, 74, of Onset, passed away on April 16 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Feb. 13, 1944, in Taunton, to the late Dr. Francis Buckley and Louise Buckley(Walden). Mary Lou is survived by her loving husband, Edwin J. Payton of Onset; daughter, Stephanie (Payton) Neale of Stonington, Connecticut; son, Kurt Payton of Douglassville, Pennsylvania; son, Christopher Payton of New Bedford; sister, Ellen(Buckley) Mauro of Riverside, Rhode Island; and 10 adoring grandchildren.

A graduate of Western Kentucky University(BA) and Bridgewater State University(MA), Mary Lou is a retired school psychologist from the Falmouth Public School District. She was a lifetime member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a sorority of Education Professionals. Mary Lou was the former president and Board Member of the Onset Bay Association.

Mary Lou enjoyed traveling with her husband, as well as spending time with family and friends. She also was an avid reader who loved classical music and dogs.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Mary Lou’s name to the Onset Bay Association at www.onsetbay.org/donations or mailed to P.O. Box 799, Onset, MA 02558.
