Hourly rates raised for substitute teachers, bus monitors at Wareham Public Schools

Substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians and bus drivers will receive an increased hourly wage following a School Committee vote on Wednesday.

The increases were presented to the School Committee at the April 23 meeting and the cost of the increases was included in the 2018-2019 Wareham Public Schools budget that was approved.

Substitute teachers will now make $85 per day, up from $65.15.

Paraprofessionals will receive $79.75 per day, an increase from $47.25.

Custodians will earn $11 an hour, up from $10.47, and bus monitors will also make $11 an hour, an increase from the former $10.75.
