A water main break closed Hathaway Street for most of Monday evening.

The street had been closed for much of the day due sewer repairs, and the break extended the road closure late into the evening. The break occurred just before 6 p.m. near Whispering Pines Drive, according to Wareham Police.

Wareham Water Superintendent Andrew Reid said it appeared that the break occurred as a result of the sewer repair. Construction works were working to repair the main until past 10 p.m.
