Wareham girls tennis beats Bourne for first time in decade

May 15, 2018

Wareham High School’s girls tennis team notched a big win on Tuesday, defeating Bourne for the first time in more than a decade. The 3-2 win also marks the first time in more than 10 years that the team came back to beat an opponent after losing a match earlier in the season.

With the 3-2 win, the Lady Vikings could earn a berth in the state tournament, provided the team beats Carver twice and wins against Diman.

Coach Geoff Swett noted that Giuliana L’Homme and the first doubles team of Emily Glidden and Olivia Powers repeated their wins against Bourne. But it was Natalia Moulding at second singles who played extremely well to reverse her earlier loss with a convincing win.

The Lady Viking's record is now 3-8 in the South Coast Conference and 6-8 overall. The team’s next match is set for May 16 at 3:30 p.m. against Carver at home.
