Carlene E. Grota, 90, passed away on June 2 at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was the wife of the late John M. Grota.

Carlene was employed as a mental health worker at Taunton State Hospital for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed scratch tickets and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Of all, family was most important to Carlene, she was a wonderful mother and cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Herbert Collins Jr., and his wife Joanne of Taunton, Alan Collins and his wife Diane of East Wareham, Alvin Collins and his wife Judith and Bradford Collins and his wife Deanna all of Taunton; grandchildren, Kristie Venuto, Corina Collins, Sarah Howard, Melissa Collins and Timothy Collins; great-grandchildren Nicole, Ethan, Shawn, Rorie, Ruby, Kavan, Caralee and Cailin and many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Carl L. Collins and grandmother of the late Brian Collins and Cynthia Collins. She was the sister of the late Mary Amaral, Lucille Kirouac, Bernice Grossman, Dorothea Goff and Geraldine Larrabee.

Her funeral service will be held on June 11 at 10 a.m. in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.

Calling hours will precede the service from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
