SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

Summer is practically around the corner, and with it returns Music from Land’s End Wareham!
Artistic Director Ariadne Daskalakis and her exquisite team have yet another fun, surprising and satisfying set of programs lined up for you. MLEW’s first summer residency, with performance dates in Marion and Wareham July 26 – 29, presents works for string quartet: a “collage combo” of the American composers George Gershwin, Charles Ives and Ruth Crawford Seeger, a masterpiece Haydn quartet and the unparalleled “American” Quartet by Dvorak.
The second program showcases J.S. Bach’s fascinating work “The Musical Offering” in a special new setting by Sebastian Gottschick, flanked by string fantasies by Purcell and Gibbons. The performance dates are August 18 – 19, also in Marion and Wareham.

About the artists: this season sees the return of “old friends” Paige Riggs and Riccardo Caraceni in July, and harpsichordist Arthur Haas and gambist Martha McGaughey in August. Furthermore, we welcome special new guests in August: flautist Emi Ferguson, violist Carly Scena and cellist Beiliang Zhu.
